A Little History

Mr. Shipman was born in 1950 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He attended Pennsylvania State University (B.A. 1972) and George Washington University (J.D. with honors, 1975). He was admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 1975, and to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in 1988. Mr. Shipman served Lycoming County as an Assistant District Attorney from 1975-77, and served as a staff attorney to the United States Department of Justice from 1978-1980 and served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania from 1980-1988. During 2000-2002, he served as President of the Federal Bar Association for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Shipman is a member of the Lycoming Law Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
